Charles Hayter, M.D., is a physician, oncologist, award‑winning playwright, and medical historian based in Toronto, Canada. He is passionate about returning humanity and personal connection to medical care, as well as the use of story and drama in medical education.

His story The Boy Who Loved Alice was recently long-listed from a field of >1300 entries for the 2025 CBC Nonfiction Prize.
